Life in 2012

I haven't posted since I started the blog and decided I need to be better at doing this.

During 2012 I changed from working at EIRMC in the nursery to working closer to home at Madison Memorial on the mother baby unit. I enjoy what I do and am grateful to be in the career field I have chosen. In April we went through a cycle of in vitro fertilization to try and have a baby but it failed. It was very hard for us to go through everything and it not work.  However it did strengthen our testimonies and we know that everything happens for a reason and have faith that we will be able to have a child if it is part of God's plan for us.  We had a great summer watching the boys play baseball and then on to football.  Jordan got a job at the Juvenile Correction Center in St. Anthony in April and is enjoying what he does. We were also able to buy a new house!! We live in Rexburg now and love our neighborhood! We were able to go on vacation together with my dad, stepmom, and my siblings in August.  It was fabulous.  We went to the Virgin Islands and enjoyed every minute of it!!   I started school again in December.  It is all online through Western Governors University.  I am getting my Masters degree in Nursing Leadership and Management.  Once I complete that I am planning on getting a Masters in Nursing Education. I guess I am just going to go to school forever!!!

Kaiden is now 11 going on 18! Not looking forward to the teenage years with this boy!!! He played baseball this year and was on an all star team.  He played first base.  He acquired a few nicknames on that team, but his favorite was thief.   They called him this because he is super quick and stole bases like crazy!!!  He also played Grid kid football.  He loves playing football!!! He is aggressive little player and his coaches loved having him! He also tried wrestling for a little bit and did well with that.

Rett turned 8 in November and was baptized on December 1st.  His Grandpa Garner baptized him and Jordan did his confirmation.  It was a wonderful day!  I am so grateful for his sweet spirit and example!! Rett also played baseball and football. He is quite the little athlete as well!! Rett also wrestled for his second year.  He like his brother enjoys wrestling but football and baseball are his favorite sports.

Deven turn 4 in June and is a busy little body!! He gave us all quite the scare.  Deven had an accident only four days after our return from the Virgin Islands.  Jordan and I had both worked during the day and had just gotten home from taking Kaiden to football practice.  Rett and Deven went to the toy room to play.  Deven was pestering Rett while Rett was trying to relax and watch cartoons.  Rett stood up to chase Deven to get him to leave him alone when Deven climbed up on the back of the couch that was by our second story window.  We had opened the window the night before to keep the house cool, but with us both working that day we forgot to close it.  Deven fell through the screen and straight to the ground.  Rett came running down the stairs with complete horror on his face, he was screaming and I couldn't even understand him so I ran up the stairs to find that Deven wasn't up there and the screen was broke.   While I had run up the stairs Jordan went outside to Deven.  When I got to him he was laying face down and having a hard time breathing.  Jordan called the ambulance as I stayed with Deven trying to keep him calm and get him to remain still, as he has started crying by this point.  The ambulance arrived and we took him to Madison Memorial.  We were extremely lucky!! Deven suffered from a concussion and hairline skull fracture to his occipital bone on the right side.  We spent two days I the hospital with him.  From Rett's description Deven did two backflips as he fell but landed flat on his back.  Landing this way was a blessing as his injuries would have been far worse any other way.  When I think of this day I envision angels cradling his little body to the ground. He has since made a full recovery and is as active as ever. We are so thankful that he is okay!

Overall we had a wonderful year and feel so blessed for everyday!
